God haz an API

  • Leah Jones:  from your IM to god's... IM?
  • Ori Neidich:  God has many interfaces/protocols
  •  "God has a very open and public API"
  • Leah Jones:  scrapers
  • Ori Neidic:  Even God has to screen-scrape, you figure he'd have more elegant solutions
  • Leah Jones:  eh - the good programmers are still alive, he only gets the dead ones
  • Ori Neidich:  they're probably using Fortran77 & COBOL *shudder*
  • Leah Jones:  cold fusion

Here for the VIP opening. Holler at me if you’re here with all the cool kids. (@ Manifest Equality Los Angeles w/ 3 others)

Today’s guest speaker:

A random wannabe blabbering about his movie with blue aliens. He’s called Jimmy Cameron or something. Ever heard of him?

Petition to make "Hella" the prefix for 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

luckyshirt:

A petition to make Hella- the official SI prefix for 10^27, for measuring things bigger than Yotta- (the prefix for (US) billion trillion). For instance: ‘the sun (mass of 2.2 hellatons) would release energy at 0.3 hellawatts.’ It would also come in handy for eventually measuring Internet traffic and US national debt.

Kind of mindboggling to think that yottabytes are already becoming insufficient

Camera Obscura and Holograph Gallery
Took a field trip a few weeks back to the Camera Obscura (www.giantcamera.com) at the Cliff House in the Outer Richmond area of San Francisco. To get to the Camera Obscura, you must take an elevator from the restaurant down to bottom level, past the kitchens and onto the platform below the Cliff House. You pay $3 to go into a pitch dark room with a big circular plate in the middle. The guide turns on the device and projects a live image of the ocean and surroundings. The only way I can think of to accurately describe what you see is like looking into the pensieve in Harry Potter, or diving into someone’s memories. The projections are surrealistically crystal clear, seeming to be even more clear than actually looking at the scenery with your naked eye.
But you don’t have to take my word for it…! Go see it for yourself.

i want to go to there

I grew up 1 block away from here. I used to go there all the time (especially to go to the Musee Mechanique, vintage arcade that was next door). I hear that the arcade has moved away and I assumed this died with it but I’m glad to know it’s still there.

Showing my Israeli friend Boaz the wonder that is the Dresden (@ The Dresden Room) http://4sq.com/71bNom

Stuck at home sick, I decided it was time to start hanging up some art. Hung 25 pieces but still not finished. Me = tired. My apt = museum?

When the press asked the Dalai about Tiger’s return to his Buddhist faith, the Dalai Lama asked “Who is Tiger Woods?” How awesome is that?
